Private tour with Horia-Roman Patapievici
in the exhibition Eustațiu Stoenescu. Portraitist of the Aristocracy
Saturday, June 29, 11:00-13:00 - SOLD OUT
After a visit to Art Safari where he was deeply impressed by Eustațiu Stoenescu’s painting, Horia-Roman Patapievici accepted our invitation to give a private tour of the exhibition Eustațiu Stoenescu. Portraitist of the Aristocracy to the public.
Therefore, we invite you on a journey through Stoenescu’s world, with one of Romania’s most important cultural figures – contemporary writer, physicist, philosopher and essayist. Horia-Roman Patapievici will give us a unique and profound perspective on the work of the great Romanian artist who was internationally acclaimed, from Paris to New York.
Eustațiu Stoenescu (1884, Craiova – 1957, New York) was an artist with a remarkable international career and a vast body of work, insufficiently known after the Communist period when the authorities of this regime erased him from the art history books. He was considered, in his time, one of Europe’s finest portrait painters, but he also painted, in the local tradition, landscapes and still lifes, all of them impressive by their artistic value.
The exhibition at Art Safari, curated by Angelica Iacob, reveals the complex personality of this valuable artist.
